TheWaterChannel NewsLetter: August 31, 2011
Dear All,
We often have much more to share with you than a short NewsFlash will allow – news about new projects, events, competitions, new water-related resources… to name a few.
So we will now send out 3 short, weekly NewsFlashes (instead of 4), plus one (not very long!) NewsLetter in the last week of the month. This is the first in the series. (Do you think that's a good idea? Please let us know.)
Upcoming Webinars
We are pleased to announce the next two in our series of webinars:
- September 14: New Low-Cost Water Technologies for Drinking , Domestic Use and Irrigation (by Henk Holtslag, Connect International)
- September 28: Water and Food: Agricultural Flows and Water Markets (by David Zetland, Wageningen University)
Click here for details about the webinars and the speakers. Participation is free. You can register on webinar.thewaterchannel.tv. This site contains learning material from previous webinars and announcements about upcoming ones.

We recently produced a video (Land, Water and Livelihoods…) as a snapshot of the story in Tigray. And a series of presentations with insights from Ethiopian experts.

New book: Traditional Irrigation Systems & Methods of Water Harvesting
This is not a glossy coffee table book merely showcasing Yemen's glory in days past. These techniques were developed in contexts of water scarcity- a stage many parts of the world have reached and many other heading towards. The book argues that we would do well to learn from them. The publication was supported by Government of the Republic of Yemen and coordinated by Embassy of Kingdom of The Netherlands in Yemen. It was produced by Levert Culture and Communication and MetaMeta. Both English and Arabic versions of the book can be downloaded for free
