This course will enhance participants' performance as a conference delegate, and as a result contribute to the overall efficiency and productiveness of conferences. The course will take a close look at the world of Multilateral Conferences, formal and informal processes of conferences, negotiation and decision-making, as well as how to prepare for an International Conference.
By the end of the course, participants should be able to: Identify how conferences unfold; Name the rules of procedure and their value in advancing delegate objectives; Explain the importance of informal consultations; Use appropriate language; and detect and incorporate other delegations' strategies.

This course aims to improve the practical skills of diplomats in international mediation and in understanding the role of the UN in resolving conflicts. The course will offer insights into the mediation process. The course will also assess the process of gaining entry into a mediation initiative and examine the early and later stages of mediation.
By the end of the course, participants should be able to: Define mediation; Explain the UN's role in international mediation; Develop mediation skills which can be utilised in international diplomacy; Discuss the mediation process and understand the political, diplomatic and cultural dimensions of mediation.
