Invitation to Resilient Cities 2019, 26-28 June in Bonn, Germany

For a decade, ICLEI Resilient Cities has provided a global open space where local governments and experts could meet as equals to advance urban resilience. Since 2010, Resilient Cities has congregated over 4,000 participants from 350 cities worldwide.

Alongside consolidated themes like multilevel governance, science-based resilience actions, and nature-based solutions, this 10th years' anniversary edition will feature several innovative topics and formats:
  • Finance forum: a whole day finance track addressing the crucial questions: How can cities prepare bankable projects that attract investors? How can they partner with funders?
  • Food systems forum: a day-long food track on sustainable lifestyle, nutrition and waste, key elements for true resilient urban food systems! In collaboration with FAO, RUAF, Rikolto GAIN, UN Environment, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and ProVeg International.
  • Resilience CiBiX Workshop Series: a platform for cities and businesses to explore partnership needs, collaboration barriers and new solutions to deliver local resilience. During the workshop, cities present their real-world challenges and what it takes to deliver resilience, then explore possible solutions through collaboration with expert public and private sector workshop participants.
  • Region and Cities in Focus: ICLEI knows that all municipalities are unique and that resilience measures often need to be adapted to the local context. Our innovative regional perspectives show just that!
  • Site visits: tour with experts for practical insights and best practices in disaster risk management, nature-based solutions, and protection of cultural and natural heritage from the German perspective.
  • Participants: over 200 participants have already registered for the Resilient Cities 2019 Congress. Among them representatives from local governments and international organizations such as Cordaid, GIZ, NASA, Resilience Brokers, Resilience Regions Association, Tetra Tech, UN Environment, UN-Habitat, World Bank, WWF, and many others.
  • Co-patrons: we are honored to have the patronage of some of the major institutions active in the fields of resilience and sustainability!
