World Soil Day: Time for action!

Celebrated each year on 5 December, this year, World Soil Day will raise awareness of the importance of preserving soil from erosion with the theme "Stop soil erosion, Save our future" and call for urgent action across sectors to prevent soil loss.

Official WSD events will be held at FAO headquarters in Rome (Italy), UN headquarters in New York (USA), Bangkok (Thailand), Tunis (Tunisia), Uppsala (Sweden), Lisbon (Portugal), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Sochi (Russia), Xi' an (China), Marrakesh (Morocco) and in over 20 FAO regional, sub-regional and country offices. Furthermore, hundreds of events will be organized worldwide through a wide range of celebrations: workshops, broadcasts, conferences, youth gatherings, farmers markets, soil fairs, round-tables, parades, webinars…and this year, tree-planting events in light of the theme of soil erosion.
